Annual goat race footage near Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. A strange custom that dates back to bootleggers in rural Germany that had to quickly transport their bier shipments to thirsty patrons in the cities. As the legend goes**, after finding that carrying huge barrels on their backs really slowed the bootleggers down and allowed the authorities to catch up to them, they turned to ruminants (ie, goats) which are faster over open ground and more agile through dense forests than humans. These brigades of bier-barrel toting "Rum-Runners," as the Ruminants came to be called by the townsfolk, are celebrated today in races such as the one depicted in the video above. (**Note: This account of history may be totally inaccurate.)
